Going Up!!!!!

And this is what it's all about. The Louth Hospital CT Scanner Appeal. We're helping to raise £500,000. Five local guys foolsforgood@hotmail.com are the mainstays behind producing a charity calendar - or should I say are the behinds producing a cheeky (but in good taste ... after all, aint I takin' the pix??) calendar?
The production costs are being borne by 12 local businesses, with each shot themed in or on each business. Others helping to make it all happen are giving their time voluntarily.
The Hospital's Director of Nursing, Steven Pallett points the way and the only way is UP!
Surely everyone either knows of, or has lost someone affected by the big C or heart-related problems and we hope that with a local scanner more people can be helped more quickly.
Having lived out of the UK for 5 or 6 years I was quite surprised to see just how many life-saving services that one could take for granted are provided for through taxes because it just makes so much sense that people don't have to wait months for a scan, or that a helicopter can be lifted within minutes to save lives, which are actually funded by public donations.
I'm in a priviledged position, perhaps, because I get to go to some of the fund-raising events and the cheque donation photoshoots and can see just how many people in the local community contribute.
Being close to the coast we also have an affinity with the lifeboats and coastguards. We've quite a few LIVES First Responders groups hereabouts, too ... the seaside draws quite a few retired people who are more likely to need the services of the latter and it's not just funds raised to set the organisation up, they need it on an ongoing basis.
They need volunteers who are willing to put themselves out and to stick at it. I admire and applaud them.
