About Me

The usual - ramblings of someone who can't find anything better to do at the time! Former P. A., freelance photojournalist (untrained, just got lucky) on small town paper whose work dried up. Now retired and busy every day.

That is fantastic! Really restores your faith in human nature - thanks for that one.

Awww. Lovely picture. Do you remember me telling you (I think) about a statue on the Plaza of Sir Winston and Lady Churchill? They're sitting on a park bench, and the title is "Married Love." And there is an American flag and a British flag flying above them. I've wanted to take a picture of it, but it's on a fairly busy corner and not a good place to stand to get the best view. Frustrating, because I pass it every morning on my way to work. I could takea pic from my car, but it would be from the side. Right now, though, the loving couple are wrapped in a blue tarp while work is being done on the corner.
I didn't recall that, Pat ... is there a special relevance to Kansas for Winnie and his wife?
I'll have to research that. The statue (and the Plaza) are in Missouri. The metro area sprawls on both sides of the Kansas/Missouri state line.
Apparently, after Winnie became leader of the opposition he visited the US States in March 1946, and made his famous Iron Curtain speech at Fulton, Missouri. Think that fits the bill?
Rats! You beat me to it! I was going to post that about Winnie making his Iron Curtain speech at Fulton, MO! I think it may have been partly that, and partly just a piece of art. Here is a link to information about the art on the Plaza. And remember, this lovely place is where the building I work in is located!

Ah! I've found it! If the link above works for you, look down the right side of the article and click on "Take a virtual walking art tour of the Plaza." Picture number 26 is "Married Love." I think you will get a kick out of number 16, also!
What a lot of sculpture you have there! I hope there are some public loos close by with the sounds of all that running water!
Can't beat the little boy in no. 16. The closest thing we have to it, locally, is in Cleethorpes, the boy with a leaking boot - which gets stolen occasionally!
