I'm a Carnation. Thank goodness for that! I thought I was going to turn out to be a Dandelion or something like that. I knew I would never make it to the Rose category.

Ah, it depends upon the situation. I've had to learn to be outgoing - I actually come out in hot sweats with nerves sometimes but I cover them with jesting and smiles!
OK, how about a synonym of shy: DIFFIDENT stresses a distrust of one's own ability or opinion that causes hesitation in acting or speaking.
I do do diffident!
